Music and Movement Experience for Children with Autism
Andrew Palermo, artistic director of dre.dance, along with dancers from his company and Wichita State University will be on campus to explore the world of dance with children with autism ages 3-6, Wednesday, September 17th at 2:30 pm in the Heartspring Recreation Center. beyond.words Explores Autism through Movement
Presented by WSU College of Fine Arts, beyond.words will perform Saturday, September 20, 7:30 p.m. at Miller Concert Hall. The performance will be followed by a Talk Back session with dre.dance artistic directors Taye Diggs and Andrew Palermo, the beyond.words dance ensemble and Heartspring professionals Kim Becker and Lindsay Randle.

A benefit concert for the Heartspring CARE Program, 'Guitar, Sax, Jazz & Wine'
features two world class jazz musicians Denny Jiosa, guitar, and special guest Joseph Vincelli, saxophone/flute at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Wichita September 27. Barnes and Noble Book Fair, Sept. 27
Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Bradley Fair will host a Book Fair to benefit the Heartspring CARE Program on September 27. Mention Heartspring or turn in the attached voucher when you purchase books at the store and 15-20% of your purchase price will be donated to purchase books for the Heartspring CARE Program’s Autism Resource Center. Don’t live in Wichita? You can still participate! The voucher is good at any Barnes and Noble store. Just print it and turn it in at the register when you make your purchase. Books requested for the Autism Resource Center will also be available for shoppers to purchase and donate directly to Heartspring. (Click the flyer on the left to print a voucher you can use at your local Barnes & Noble retailer.)
Activities include:
- Special story time for children with autism conducted by Heartspring Director of School Therapy, Lindsay Randle from 2:00-2:30. The 2nd Annual Autism CARE Walk
Shhhhh, it's a secret, but we're too excited and have to share! We've already started planning for the 2nd annual Autism CARE Walk on April 4, 2009 and it is shaping up to be even bigger and better than last year!
Our goal this year is to double or even triple last year's amazing response and we need your help! There are a number of ways you can make a difference including:
