Wichita Buddy Walk Saturday, October 4
Walk to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Buddy WalkThe 2008 Buddy Walk in Wichita, Saturday, October 4,  is one of hundreds of events planned in cities across the country this fall.  The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society to promote acceptance and inclusion of all people with Down syndrome.

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and the one mile walk kicks off at 10:30 a.m. on the Heartspring campus, 8700 East 29th Street North.  Activities including lunch, DJ, carnival games and basket drawings until 1:00p.m.  Details at www.dsswichita.org.

About 800 people are expected to attend.  Participants include people with Down syndrome from all areas of Kansas, their families, friends, teachers, coworkers and other supporters.

Each year, the Buddy Walk touches thousands of lives and is a major platform for inclusion in communities nationwide.  In addition to its goal of promoting awareness, the Buddy Walk raises money to support the education, research and advocacy programs of the National Down Syndrome Society.
